Hollywood Public School is located in Willowdale, a part of North York, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Hollywood was opened in 1950, expanded by 8 classrooms and a second kindergarten in 1954 and our gymnasium expanded in 1983. Its original cost is reported to be $283,000. Original enrolment is reported to have been 290 students from kindergarten to grade 8. Our classes include junior kindergarten to grade 6.

Our school includes a large library, two middle immersion classes, an English as a Second Language class, a computer lab and a large gym/lunch room. Outside of the school, there are two playgrounds, a baseball diamond and a soccer field. Our schoolyard has hills and sandboxes and playscapes for recess entertainment. The school is active in recycling and greening our schoolyard with many interesting trees and colourful gardens.

“We would like to acknowledge that this school is situated upon traditional territories. The territories include the Wendat (wen-dat), Anishinabek (ah-nish-nah-bek) Nation, the Haudenosaunee (ho-den-oh-sho-nee) Confederacy, the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nations, and the Métis (may-tee) Nation.
The treaty that was signed for this particular parcel of land is collectively referred to as the Toronto Purchase and applies to lands east of Brown’s Line to Woodbine Avenue and north towards Newmarket. We also recognize the enduring presence of Aboriginal peoples on this land.”
